Lieutenant Colonel Darryl Langford is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. He enlisted in the Nebraska Army National Guard in 1983 as a combat medic, where he attained the rank of sergeant.
Langford graduated from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics in 1990. He received an Army ROTC commission as a Second Lieutenant in Aviation and became an Army Aviator. He flew the UH-60 Blackhawk, AH-1 Cobra, UH-1 Huey, and OH-58 Kiowa Warrior.
Langford received a Master of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California as well as an Associate’s Degree in Christian Studies from World Changers Bible College. Upon completion of his master’s degree, he became Professor of Mathematics at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Langford served combat tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 to 2004 and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) from 2005 to 2006. Langford also deployed to Kuwait in support of these operations from 2008 to 2009. Upon retirement from the Army, Langford became the Senior Army Instructor of Army JROTC at Fayette County High School, where he served from 2011 to 2018.
Langford’s awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Army Commendation Medal (five awards), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal. His decorations include the Army Aviation Badge.
Change to: Langford is a Life member of the Sigma Omicron Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, member of American Legion Post 105, and member of the Greater Atlanta and Fayetteville Kiwanis clubs.
Langford is married to the former Markgetta Jackson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They have four children: Christopher, Brittanie, Malcolm, and Darryl. They also have three grandchildren: Eddie, Lily, and Evelyn.
Langford’s hobbies include basketball (athletics of most types), motorcycle riding, and reading. His passions are working as a minister/evangelist in the body of Christ, developing, mentoring, coaching, and counseling.
