  3. Application for Service

    • Application for service required documentation, and applicable payment of fees must be completed a minimum of three (3) days prior to establishing service. If the complete application is not received in our office before 12pm on the day of your desired established date, your application will not be processed until the next business day.
    • A non-refundable processing fee must be paid at the time of application or it will be applied to the first month's bill.
    • Any outstanding bills must be paid prior to activation of service.

    A Complete Application

    • Signed by both parties - Lease Agreement (if renting)
    • Signed by both parties - Closing Settlement or Warranty Deed (if purchasing)
  4. Terms and Agreements


    At the signing of this service agreement, I acknowledge that I am responsible for all billing of Water, Sewer, Sanitation, Recycling, Stormwater, or Proportionate Shares as applied to this address until I notify the City of Fayetteville that I am no longer responsible for these charges at the location listed above. Bills are mailed monthly and failure to receive a bill does not relieve your obligation to pay. Customer Service Department must be contacted if you do not receive a bill in a timely manner.

    Disconnection for Non-payment

    Service to any property may be disconnected at any time in which payment is past due.

    When service is suspended for non-payment, returned check or other violations, a fifty dollar ($50) Reconnect Fee and the outstanding balance must be paid to restore service. (Cash, Money Order, Credit/Debit Card only).

    Tampering with City Property

    Tampering with City property is PROHIBITED and punishable by law.

    Once water service has been disconnected for ANY reason, service can only be restored by a City of Fayetteville Department (CWS) employee. Customers and/or Landlords do not have the authorization to restore service. A one-hundred dollar ($100) Locked Meter fee will be accessed for tampering with City of Fayetteville property. The tampering fee and the outstanding account balance must be paid before service will resume.

    Access to property:

    I hereby grant the City of Fayetteville access to my property for water meter installing, repairing, removing, checking and reading; as well as sewer checks. I acknowledge that the meter and meter box are the property of the City of Fayetteville Water and Sewer Department; and they have the authority to control and regulate its use, as well as charge me for any repairs that are deemed necessary due to damage to the meter, meter box or sewer lines. I also grant the City of Fayetteville the right to destroy any vegetation or obstruction found to be hampering the reading of my meter, as well as levying fines against me.


    I acknowledge that I am prohibited by the City of Fayetteville’s Ordinance from connecting my plumbing to any other source while connected and receiving service from the City of Fayetteville; included, but not limited to, wells located on my property or any other private water supply, and that I am required to notify the City of Fayetteville of any source or installation in the future.

    Discontinuing Service:

    The account holder must submit in writing a Termination Form.

    For residence inside the City Limits of Fayetteville, Sanitation (Garbage and Recycling) are mandatory. The City sets up and discontinues service with GFL for you (some apartments handle their own). So that the City can serve you better: 

  11. Acceptance of Service Application

    To aid the City of Fayetteville Water Department in the review and acceptance of the Contract of Service Application, Applicant unconditionally agrees to comply with all applicable Ordinances, rules and regulations currently in force and any that may be later amended, and to promptly pay for all services provided. This includes all service billings, late fees, and other fees and charges as they may apply.
