Fayetteville, Georgia – June 29, 2023 – City of Fayetteville firefighters and police officers are getting ready to rumble in the first-ever Gun & Hoses Charity Sand Volleyball Tournament, which will take place Saturday, July 15, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., behind New Hope Baptist Church on New Hope Road.
Fun in the sun that day will include free admission to watch the volleyball competitions, event T-shirts and raffle tickets for sale, and modestly priced concessions, including hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks, and ice cream. All proceeds benefit Fayetteville-based The Eden Project, a warrior support foundation helping veterans reintegrate into civilian life.
“Expectations are high, so we’re pretty motivated to bring our “A” game to the court,” said Police Officer Scott Israel, one of the event organizers. “It’s all in good fun, but you can imagine we’re going to take the competition seriously. Most public safety personnel are highly competitive by nature.”
Spectators are encouraged to bring camping chairs or blankets for seating.
