[ARCHIVED] Fayetteville Police make trafficking arrest netting five pounds of drugs and two guns

Drug Arrest 2022-11-12b

Fayetteville, Georgia – November 14, 2022 – Five pounds of drugs and two guns are off the streets after a Fayetteville Police Officer pulled over a vehicle late Saturday afternoon for a window tint violation.

Officer Kenneth Marcucci made the stop around 5:15 p.m. on Pavilion Parkway after observing an older model Lexus with windows that were darker than allowed by Georgia law. As Marcucci followed the vehicle, he also noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the Lexus.

The driver was 23-year-old Corey Vashone Truitt of Riverdale, who admitted he had smoked marijuana in the car earlier and that there was still marijuana in the car. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found nine bags of marijuana totaling nearly 2.7 pounds, three bags of ecstasy pills weighing around 2.4 pounds, digital weighing scales, a box of sandwich bags, two guns, and a large amount of cash.

Truitt was arrested without incident and booked into the Fayette County Jail. He was charged with two counts of Possession of Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Possession and Trafficking of Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Ecstasy, and Possession of Drug Related Objects. He was also cited for the window tinting violations.

“Our officers did a great job taking these drugs and guns off the streets,” said Police Chief Scott Gray. “Thanks to Officer Marcucci’s due diligence, we were able to make Fayetteville safer.”
