The Junior Police Academy gives middle school students a chance to learn about police work firsthand. Cadets are invited to a week-long program at the Fayetteville Police Department and are taught a variety of subjects by officers who use the information in the field daily. Topics include:
- Patrol Techniques
- Constitutional Rights
- Traffic Enforcement
- Crime Scene Investigation
- Defensive Tactics
Eligibility
In order to qualify for the program, students must meet the following requirements:
- Must be at the middle school level with a minimum “C” GPA
- No more than two unexcused absences for the semester
- Must not have been arrested or referred to juvenile probation for any felony crime, or have any arrest for crimes of moral turpitude.
