The City of Fayetteville is contracting with SAFEbuilt Georgia to manage the day-to-day operations of the Building Department, to include plan review, permitting and inspections for residential, commercial, and industrial construction.

The Building Department reviews plans and inspects the construction of buildings and other structures within the City Limits of Fayetteville. Our ISO rating of 3 is one of the best in the state and helps reduce the cost of insurance for houses and businesses in Fayetteville.

To Schedule an Inspection

  • Schedule an inspection electronically.
  • To schedule an inspection by phone, call 770-719-4067
    • Must have a Permit Number. If the request is received before 3 pm, the inspection will be performed the next business day.
  • All permit applications may be downloaded or picked up at the Permits Counter within the Building Department.

It is your responsibility to call us for inspections at specific times during construction. You may have your contractor make the call, but it is still your responsibility, as the property owner, to make sure the inspections are made. Inspections are made during certain points in the project, depending on the work that's being performed. For example, decks require inspections of the footing, framing/attachment to house and when all work is finished.

Remember, the project is not complete for legal purposes until it has passed the final inspection.
